Master’s Program in general, includes all the traditional scope of the post-Soviet discipline. There are a significant amount of study of theoretical material, starting with functional anatomy and embryology of the genitourinary tract, and further the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of urological diseases, as well as practical skills of modern diagnostic and treatment methods. This section includes a modern laboratory, radiological and endoscopic methods of investigation, as well as traditional and minimally invasive endourological interventions, lithotripsy, and others. Before you begin development of knowledge provided by the State standard, each resident receives a package of documents including: national standard, MSc, List of seminars, drawing and schedule of practical rotations. Thus, the resident can distribute their potential and plan their working day for full assimilation produced educational material.
The theoretical section of the program is presented in the form of 52 workshops, which is based on the most modern sources of literature and recognized in the world of urology textbooks («Campbell’s Urology» and «Adult and Pediatric Urology»). Including the moderators are in preparation and holding of seminars, data obtained from the «Guidelines European Association of Urology». During the workshop moderators put two scores: one for the knowledge of the subject, the other for the active participation in the discussion of it during the workshop. To control the knowledge obtained during the preparation and conduct of the seminar, developed computer test programs, the total of which now stands at about 2 million questions. For residents in the development of teaching skills, organized seminars that prepare students for the content of periodicals (magazines), European countries («British Journal of Urology» and «European Journal of Urology») and conducted independently under the guidance of a moderator. Seminar topics are selected in such a way that they provide an opportunity to explore modern problems of urology, new methods of diagnosis and treatment of major diseases of the urinary tract.
The main requirement for the practical section of the program is the need for proper training of mastering the appropriate volume and a list of practical skills under the supervision of personal trainer, sufficient qualified independent work, dividing it into separate conditional thematic cycles or rotations (11 rotations thematic, covering almost all modern urology, except vascular disease and kidney disease adrenal glands). As a supervisor for training residents attracted the most experienced and highly qualified staff of the Republican Specialized Center of Urology (RSTSU), based on which the department operates. Another important requirement is the need for a gradual, phased increase the share of the personal involvement of residents and share their responsibilities in the treatment process, which is reflected in the documents folder, which is the resident “fills” for three years of study. Folder (file) contains: chart and schedule rotation, seminars; daily diaries (protocol operations, manipulations, etc.) examination of patients accessing RSTSU (with a supervisor), which is fixed daily evaluation and share in percentage; interim and final reports (which summarizes the work done over the last month and after rotation) and the examination sheet. The examination paper is fixed assessment supervisor for practical skills and theoretical knowledge derived by a resident during the rotation, and a special commission (docents and the deputy. Director RSTSU). It should be noted that summarizing assessment derived by a resident of the workshops and the rotation output overall rating, which including taken into account when deciding on the promotion of the resident (additional scholarships or tuition). Every resident at the time of the practical rotation with a personal instructor (supervisor) from the staff of the center.
It should be noted that the center of urology has, together with conventional, modern and minimally invasive technologies used for the treatment of patients with urological pathology: transurethral endoscopic surgery for diseases of the urethra and prostate, care-biopsy when prostate tumors, ekstrakorparalnaya shock wave lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy . All this enables the full training of qualified specialists. Including RSTSU has a library, where residents are able to enjoy.
