Clinical work

The Republican Specialized Urology Center, which is the training base of the Urology Department, currently provides highly qualified services to the population through a consultation clinic, adult and pediatric urology inpatient departments, nephrology and hemodialysis, intensive therapy, x-ray and radiology departments, clinical, biochemical and bacteriological laboratory departments, and surgical treatment departments.

Patient care in the inpatient department

In these departments, modern diagnostic and treatment methods used in leading European countries are widely used by our department staff. Based on the Resolution No. 264 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2004 and the orders developed by the Ministry of Health on treatment and diagnostic standards, the department and center staff are actively carrying out reforms.

Currently, 80 percent of patients with urological diseases in our institution are treated with endoscopic methods. The mechanism of effective use of existing equipment is very high. Based on the decisions of the head of our state and the government, activities are being carried out consistently to implement many reforms. The conditions in the center building and the types of quality medical services provided to patients are improving year by year.

Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy method

It is gratifying that in recent years, our center has been implementing new methods of surgical treatment of common urological diseases, especially urolithiasis and urethral obliteration.

In particular, a method of treating kidney stones combined with ureteral obstruction caused by stones. The main goal in treating this category of patients is to simultaneously remove ureteral and kidney stones and eliminate supravesical obstruction without damaging the muscular layer of the body. These requirements are met by minimally invasive methods and our proposed method of lifting stones from the ureter to the kidney and simultaneously removing them during percutaneous nephrolithotomy.

In the Republic of Uzbekistan, urolithiasis is a regional pathology, in most cases, coral and multiple stones are observed in the kidney, which lead to dysfunction and scarring of the organ. Usually, such stones were removed by open surgery or several times by endourological methods. Currently, a new improved endoscopic method used in the urology center has made it possible to remove stones in one operation through several skin incisions into the kidney. This treatment tactic improves the quality of life of patients and is a cost-effective method.

Endoscopic surgical room

The current achievements have created the conditions for completing the endourological operation without the usual renal drainage. This method has led to the almost complete absence of infectious complications and pain in the postoperative period, reducing the period of inpatient treatment and rehabilitation of patients.

Patients suffering from urethral obliteration due to various reasons cannot urinate independently and have to live with cystostomy drainage for life. The minimally invasive endoscopic recanalization method, developed and implemented at the center, performed under X-ray control, is an effective and painless method for treating severe cases. With the help of additional procedures, more than 60% of patients are relieved of cystostomy drainage.

A new treatment method introduced in the urology center over the past 2 years is the retroperitoneoscopic method. To date, more than 100 patients have undergone retroperitoneoscopic nephrectomy, elimination of stenosis in the ureteral segment, and removal of stones in the ureter. In order to expand the method, 2 talented specialists of the center are scheduled to conduct several months of training in European countries in the fall.

The use of these new treatment methods will save money on treatment, reduce the postoperative period, early rehabilitation and restoration of working capacity of patients, and improve the quality of life.

It is gratifying that in recent years, the department has been implementing new methods of surgical treatment of urological diseases in children, especially urolithiasis, including external shock wave lithotripsy and percutaneous endoscopic surgery.
